If you enjoy walking and want to get some exercise in the fresh air with stimulating company. Then come and join the Walking Group where there is always a warm welcome – though we can’t guarantee warm weather and it takes more than just a shower to stop us!

We walk on the first Wednesday of each month starting at 10:00 am.

The walks are usually around 5 miles in length at various locations, usually no more than an hour's drive from Solihull and often much closer. At the end of the walk we gather for a well-deserved Pub lunch! Lunch is not compulsory you can just walk.

There can be anywhere between 10-20 members on the walks. You do need to be fairly fit as the walks do include hills and have stiles to negotiate. Walks are taken at a reasonably leisurely pace and there is no competition for who is the fastest. The “walkers” tending to arrive at the finish and get to the bar first; with the “talkers” arriving shortly afterwards. Dogs are very welcome and we have a few regulars but they come at their owner’s responsibility.

Members of the group take it in turns to volunteer to lead a walk. This involves checking it out in advance, booking the pub lunch and giving a brief description to the group co-ordinator who will distribute this to the members. New members can be supported in organising their first few walks by more experienced leaders if they wish. Good footwear is essential as are waterproofs and warm clothing for winter.

Why not give it a go and see how you get on? You are very welcome to join us for one or two of our walks. Further information and walk details can be obtained from the group co-ordinator using the contact form at the top of this page.

Details of our recent walks are below if you want to look through them.

Our walk next month, Wednesday 2nd September, is another try at the Aston Cantlow walk that was cancelled in June because of rain. It is a 5 mike walk across fields, on footpaths and with some road walking. There will be stiles.

If you are interested in joining us please contact the group co-ordinator using the link at the top of this page for more details.
