Solihull Widney

Walking group, July 2026 walk

After the rain in June, it was so good to see the sun for our July walk, and instead of raincoats we had to remember hats, sunscreen and water.

15 suitable equipped walkers set off from the car park of the King’s Head in Wellesbourne walking on footpaths through mainly arable land. We even managed to find the correct footpath through the head high rape seed fields. We fought our way through the brambles which threatened to over grow the footbath and all managed to navigate the stream side sloping path without ending up in the water. We also discovered a crop that was new to most of us, flax, also know as linseed. The walk took us through Charlecote which gave lovely views across the grounds of Charlecote House, and then back along the river into Wellesbourne, where lunch awaited.

A big thank you to Maureen and Richard who found the walk and led us expertly on the day.                                                                                                                                                  Ursula I
