Who doesn’t like to take photos??

From time to time we will all capture that special moment, whether it be on a hastily snatched phone or Ipad or on a more sophisticated camera. Memories are created to treasure and so much easier to record and store with the advent of digital photography.

Our friendly photography group welcomes new members of any ability, whether you are a complete beginner or you would just like to improve your photographic skills.

We meet on Tuesday mornings, once every two months in one of our member’s houses to share photos that we have taken since the last meeting for our latest ‘challenge’. Members take it in turns to pick a subject for us all to photograph and then submit 10 of their own choosing. By looking at other more experienced members’ photos you can learn what the difference is between a carefully considered picture and a quick snap. A relaxed morning is enjoyed looking through all of the submissions and we all get to vote later and choose the most popular 2 from each member.

During the meeting suggestions and tips are occasionally made which can be very helpful and constructive. There is no pressure to be the next David Bailey but by learning a few simple editing techniques we can help improve our final photo.

Recent themes have included subjects as diverse as ‘Glass’, ‘Royalty’ and ‘Ancient and Modern’. It is interesting to see how everyone has interpreted the challenge and seeing how other people have done this can inspire you to be more imaginative in the future.
