We are a small friendly group and have been learning Spanish for at least five years.

Currently we are using an online course which consists of short video sessions. It focuses on conversational Spanish - the motto is Speak To Learn. We learn conversational patterns that can be applied to a variety of topics such as talking about ourselves, our families, hobbies, travel, shopping and eating. We can construct and speak in whole sentences, mainly in the present tense.

In addition we usually start the session with a warm up exercise which might be a reading comprehension or a vocabulary re-cap in the form of flash cards or a brainstorm. There is also a break in the middle for refreshments and a general chat.

We certainly feel more confident in 'getting by' in a Spanish speaking country and value the benefit of learning a language in later life. We enjoy our sessions and support each other.
