We are a small group and we usually have very good attendance at our meetings which take place in each other’s homes on the first Friday of the month. Meetings start with coffee and biscuits. We do not generally meet in January or August.
Throughout the year each member chooses a book that she or he would like to recommend. A short presentation on the chosen book, which usually includes background information about the author and a synopsis of the book, is given and then the meeting is thrown open to a general discussion. It is always interesting and informative to hear other member’s views.
We read works by a wide range of authors. Recent authors have included Ian McEwan, Gervase Phinn, Anthony Trollope, Elif Shafak, Dorothy L. Sayers, Mick Herron, and Gail Honeyman. Some of the authors are new to us and others are well established. The books we read are a wide mixture of fiction, fantasy, humour, crime and classics.
We would love to have some new members join the group so it you are at all interested then please get in touch.
