With the countryside being water logged we tried something different again for our February walk and followed a self guided walking tour around the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. The walk started outside St Paul's Church in St. Paul's Square and over 2O stops looked at the history of the area through the buildings. Some of the history was already known to the walkers but I think everyone gained some new knowledge along the way. For myself, I hadn't realised that the area was also a world leading manufacturing area for pen nibs. We ended the walk with a delicious lunch at the Old Contemptables pub.
The walk is available on the Internet and is produced by the Royal Geographical Society.
