This is an informal group of u3a members which usually meets on the first Sunday of every month at either 12:30 or 12:45pm, at a restaurant in or around Solihull. Times and venues are announced in the preceding month's u3a bulletin for members to book in advance. The Sunday Lunch Club started many years ago as an opportunity for those living on their own to meet up with fellow u3a members and enjoy a Sunday Roast, friendship and conversation. Today the Sunday Lunch Club is thriving with couples and individuals joining our numbers and it is a great way for new members to meet older members. Attendance varies at between 8 and 19 depending on member's commitments.
Popular venues last year have include the Lake at Barston, McKee's Brasserie in Balsall Common and Copt Heath Golf Club. We have ventured as far afield as Henley in Arden but are always looking for venues nearer to home and are always open to recommendations. We have also arranged an Afternoon Tea event.
Members volunteer to book or recommend a venue for lunch. Members wishing to attend should contact the co-ordinator by phone or email, or sign the attendance list at the Core Meeting where menus are usually available. For some venues we are asked to pre-order our meal and/or pay a deposit in advance. Contact details are on your Membership card, on the booking list and in the monthly bulletin..
The October Sunday Lunch is booked at McKees Brasserie, Haigh’s Hotel, 273 Kenilworth Road, Balsall Common, CV7 7EL, at 12.45 on 5th.
Meals have to be pre-ordered. Menu choices and the list to sign will be available at the Core Meeting. Please be prepared to pre-order your meal and pay a £5 pp. deposit. If you are unable to be at the Core meeting, please contact Sheila W using the link above or her details are on the Bulletin or your membership card,
